There's
a place in the world where you can explore rugged peaks, encounter
an exclusive sail fish as it soars high into the cloudless sky, savour
the delights of seafood caught by your own hands, or stroll along
white sandy beaches that carry on forever. A place where you can discover
ancient gorges on safari, explore an underwater kingdom teeming with
life, or simply bask in the glorious sunshine of an endless summer. |
The
Ningaloo Reef meets the beach of the North West Cape. It is a virtually
untouched barrier reef of 260km length protecting a shallow, brilliant
white sandy lagoon of clear tropical waters. One of the rare places
on earth where you are able to walk from the beach straight onto a
coral reef. More than 500 species of tropical fish and 220 species
of coral make up the Ningaloo Reef; a protected marine park. |
|
With the
sea only up to your knees, allow the many coloured fish to swim between
your legs. From eighteen months to eighty years of age enjoy the thrill
of snorkeling amid the dazzling display of tropical species and colours
of fish and coral in the shallows - "like swimming through the stars". |
The waters beyond the
reef are the migratory route of Humpback Whales. Dolphins, Dugongs.
Coral spawning can also be seen here. Turtles nest on the beach in
summer. The reef is world famous for the 'gentle giant' Whalesharks
that gather off the coast to feed on plankton. It is the best place
in the world to take a trip to swim along side the world's largest
fish.
